There are no distinguishing marks on the chair.
It was purchased from Germany by me from an antiques shop about 10 years ago. -

do you happen to remember the if guy selling the chair believed it was an original from the bauhaus
or a reproduction.
i no you say there's no marking's .
i could be interested if it produced from the original patent.. -

i could be interested if it produced from the original patent..I can't confirm any of this. All I know is, that it was produced in the 80's.
Is there a way to authenticate these?!

What are the caps on the end of the front pointing tubes like? Plastic inserts or welded discs? I don't remember the website I read it on, but that's one of the indicators. Might have stamp on the bottom of one of the tubes too.

perhaps i was being a little to optimistic.
I'm sure the patent would have been passed around a number of times by now.
or probably expired.
would just be nice to have an idea who produced it.
ill see if i can find out how to judge.. -

Also, I think originals used black hex bolts on the sides.

The patent expired in the late 50s/early 60s

Welded discs. Can't see a stamp anywhere though...

Hex bolts are metallic in colour, not black.

= not 'original' but if it was you'd be asking antique prices.
The welded tube ends mean it's a good quality repro. well worth £150.

This maybe true but if Knoll International caught you selling a Wassily Chair as the original piece you would be taken to court.
Non-licenced versions of the chair must be sold as Wassily "chair". Licenced originals have been produced by Knoll since 1953, each will be stamped with serial code on the uderside of the leg or on newer licensed versions have a signature plate.
Beautiful piece and excellent price.

The way the leather has been cut and bonded in the above picture wouldn't surpirse me if this an orginal piece. If not, as said above, its a bloody good copy.
