  • Mrs don't like polo and wants us to go to Barbados instead

no man polo is way better! ;)

what i think josh was trying to say is that there will be much more interest in tournaments this year, it may not be an issue as you say only 19 teams last year etc. i suppose we will see after this tournament.

  • Nothing has currently been set in stone about the NS for this year. There will invariably be some tweaking of the format/rulebook, so I honestly couldn't say yet whether this is a NS event or not (assuming the NS for 2012 continues to aim for a consistent tournament structure/rulebook).

  • Was there a minimum number of places to make things NS last year?

  • Bristol polo players can't play in some NS tourneys in 2012 for the following reasons:

    Family commitments
    Running a business
    Skint
    Work
    Holidays
    Injury

Last year we worked our arses off to provide a venue with 2 courts. Only 19 teams were able to come to Bristol. This year we have an amazing facility with only 1 court. There are enough hours in the day to allow 20+ teams to play. Why shouldn't this be a NS tourney?

Some of us down here can only manage 4 tourneys this year. We simply don't have the time or money to travel around playing every tourney. We see this tourney as an opportunity to score points without leaving the city. This is a reward for all of our hard work organising the event!

    I welcome opinions on this....

Please ignore Josh he has no commitments and lives at home with his parents. This is a NS event and feel free to mislay Team Cream's enrollment application.

    Yes, 32.

    From the NS thread:

    "All National Series tournaments will:

1.Be able to handle a minimum of 32 teams
2.Take place on minimum of 1 court over 2 days or 2 courts over 1 day
3.Use a format that involves seeded Swiss Rounds and an elimination phase
4.Allow each team to play a minimum of 4 games
    5.Use a pre-approved ruleset
6.Use refs that have read the rulebook, reffing guidelines and been briefed by the head ref"

  • When are you likely to make descisions about the coming years NS?

  • Hopefully over the next few weeks.

  • I think only the London open managed more than 32 teams last year, with help with non UK teams ?

    Fuck off.

  • Can someone please bring the duck call kazoo thing again please.

  • Like I said, nothing's been decided regarding this year's format/structure/rules etc. I think it's jumping the gun a bit to say it is/isn't a NS event.

  • Maybe I'm being oversensitive here but it feels a wee bit like the thread is heading in a direction that doesn't exactly reflect the friendly and fun weekend people here in Bristol are hoping to put on.

Don't come 'cos it is/isn't an NS event. Come 'cos it'll be great weekend of polo: an indoor, warm and dry venue with an amazing viewing balcony and separate chillout area; cheap bar and good food; a 'shop' selling cheap spares; genuinely great prizes and a raffle; non stop 80's music/ no 80's music at all (delete as preferred); the UK's finest 13 year old player (go Alfie!); did I mention the cheap bar; etc...

Really looking forward to seeing you guys there!!!

Absolutely, don't worry everyone is really looking forward to attending your event. Thank you for your hard work and time. Apologies for derailing this thread with infantile sniping with Josh ( I love him really the big teddybear x)

Sorry, didn't quite mean to come on like the thread police, possibly just suffering from an excess of loyalty to my fellow Brizzle polo-istas . I can't take any credit, it's Andre, Ady and co who've been beavering away to make this happen so far. Thanks to them it will be amazing*!

(You might still want to be a bit worried about the music...)

  • HA!

We told Bath Ales that you might be coming and they immediately signed on the dotted line for sponsorhip!!

  • Looking for a team for this, not sure i can register as Fenboy1.

The rule says it must be open to 32 teams.

Brighton had 31 UK teams due to the time of year but most other tournaments had numbers more around the 20 mark.

Is there any way that Team Warin can be docked NS points that they were awarded at a tourney that had under 32 teams and therefore did not qualify as a NS event? Hacked Off will do ANYTHING to ensure that we are higher in the rankings than those pesky Warins. WE ALWAYS BEAT THEM. IT'S NOT FAIR!!!

+1! So funny if timed well!!

  • I'll get Neil to put it in the polovan
