Film Processing thread is back.
Sorry film camera buffs, someone cough me cough got this caught up in Merge Story 3 - Tales of the Whoops
If there's a post in another thread (the film one mostly) that should be here, let me know and I'll move it back.

Its back......from the dead!!!!!
All praise to MrSuperModerator.
Now I'll have to edit it, as we were noticing over on the Film Photography thread, many are closing or closed.

score!

yeah, an update definitely needed sadly :(
Also perhaps a change of the title away from explicitly medium format?
Perhaps people could contribute a couple of lines/opinion to each place? a remark on price/service etc, or should that be resolved to discussion throughout this thread or the non-dig film/photog one?

All good points......and shall be addressed this weekend.

Really useful thread, thanks!
I recently got some 35mm b&w done at West End Cameras on Tottenham Court Road. they do 35mm colour, 120 and C41 too, and offer a postal service and student discount.
I got the negs scanned to CD too (no prints) and thought the quality of the scans was quite poor tbh, and low resolution with file sizes (JPEG) <500kb.

Thanks, that's very helpful. I'll add that later when I'm at a PC.

Good and ok on price if you mail them a bulk load. I've used them mostly for straight-up E6 processing and scanning. Had a problem once, but they were helpful and fast at getting it sorted.

Palm Labs is still going in Birmingham, just had some fantastic work done by them.

AFAIK Beryl Houghton in Coventry still does film processing, if you want another for the list.
P.s. Used to do some of my own B&W, still got a dark bag and some shaking tub things (and some well expired chemicals) if anyone is on the lookout.

Already in the list good lady. See under Regions.

I've had a look, but can only find Beryl Houghton listed as a wedding photographer, and offering digital processing services. Maybe she's moved onto digital as a primary source of use and income?

^ probably moving with the times then. If I was in cov I could pop in to check, unfortunately that's not possible.

I used the 3hour service for a basic dev+print package today, from KodakExpressCamden. When I inspected the prints, there was the faintest line on some of the images. I pointed this out to the gentleman who was dealing with me, and to my surprise, he apologised and offered to redo it immediately while I waited. It was redone in just minutes.
I will now use them again and again. Its true that out-of-London prices are cheaper, but imagine the palaver, if you noticed such a line on your prints once they had been posted back to you. Local services FTW.
Oh yes, they were pictures of my best friends wedding, so they had to be just right. If they were only for me, I might have just accepted the faint lines.
Service: 10/10.

this makes me happy -

Hi, Seems to be helpful to me, I think that I 'll try the one on brick lane and "spectrum" for my slides. Do you know some labs in London still processing super8 films ?
-
• #21
@GA2G: checking out your link to Kodak Camden - at the bottom of the page
If you've got loads of negatives around the house and you would like them scanned to disc then drop them in or post to them Kodak Express Camden and we will scan each film for just £2 each. To get the discount you will need to send us 10 or more sets of negatives.
wow, sounds too good to be true...! very tempting.
if you ever get around to editing the OP - Darkside are sadly no longer London-based, they are now a little further out in Herts somewhere I believe.

Will do. Cheers.

Any recommendations or somewhere good (an not too expensive) in east London? For 35 colour and b+w, thanks.

Peak Imaging in Sheffield are good quality and competetive if you can be arsed to do a postal order. They do a quick turnaround.

Just noticed that Photofusion do half-price darkroom or scanner sessions if you accumulate £50 spending on film processing:
http://www.photofusion.org/services-2/film-processing/
http://www.photofusion.org/film-processing-offer/which seems like a pretty good deal. the processing is not too pricey and it is the only colour darkroom I know of (and you no longer have to be a member to use it).
For those that are interested. I'm not sure if all are still valid, so please check by email and phone before using any of their services.
Anyone wish to add their knowledge of other labs to this list, please pipe up, and I'll add your suggestion.
