Proper leather shoes

Maybe I totally misunderstood the title of this thread, and thought that PROPER LEATHER SHOES meant shoes that were made predominantly of leather, and could be repaired by cobblers and so on.

The shoes that Superprecise and nuknow seem to favour, are not proper leather shoes in my opinion, but shoes made with some leather. And most certainly anti-formal.

Superprecise, why not change the name of the thread to LEATHER SHOES? There would be a greater range of shoes that fall within that genre. Proper Leather Shoes have leather uppers, leather soles and leather tongues. Or at the very least, are made by artisans, using time honoured skills; not mass produced banana soled rubbish.
