  • does anyone know if Manchester is icy? Because if it is I'm going to walk

  • It's not icy just a tad wet, unless it's extreme black ice everywhere.

  • not icy yet, not cold enough, migh be later, but most roads have been gritted days ago, so should be fine.... just turn slowly and steadily....

  • roads are rarely icy in manchester, perhaps on the smaller roads, too busy, damp and not cold enough.

  • and don't lean

  • and lean into your skids and slide the back end out for style points.

  • MHBP Update

Time to update on the progress of MHBP, post the presentation of a 2012 Plan by Andy, Rob and Neil.

After the Steering Group was elected last Thursday, we all voted for the logo/namestyle to represent our new group from a strong selection of ideas/concepts contributed by regular Manchester poloista. Ste's winning design is in the final throes of production before it can be released onto an unsuspecting public!

The Steering Group had its first full meeting yesterday, with Drew in attendance as an observer/passer-by.
    **
Agenda for First Steering Group Meeting **
    Wednesday February 8th 2012
    11am Eighth Day Cooperative

    1. Constitution Draft review
    2. New Logo
    3. Membership
    4. Work Sub Groups planning session
    5. Master Calendar planning session
    6. Budget Outline
    7. AOB

We discussed the issues of greatest priority within the Plan and are ready to co-ordinate the Sub Groups or teams - namely: Working; Social; Marketing; Training/Coaching; Outreach. We think we've identified the people we think are most appropriate to lead those teams and work with the Steering Group to deliver the Plan and hopefully those people will agree to their nomination/recruitment in due course! Once they are in place we will update here.

It was agreed that the subscription rates for full membership would be £24 for 2012 (including the commemorative shirt), with a discounted rate for Juniors (Under 16) and Ex Pat MCR folk of £6 (shirt extra @ cost price if required). We expect to issue membership forms in the next 7 days and have decided to only collect half the subscription in February, to help spread the cost (ie. £12). The remainder will be collected by end of April. Of course new members can pay the full amount in the first instance if they wish. To help this process, please can you update Rob via PM with an email address ASAP.

In AOB we also discussed the 'UKHBP' initiative; the local courts; and the launch event. After the meeting we cycled around to evaluate some potentially exciting courts for both the social and the tournament ambitions and plans we have for the year - a report to follow.

Once we have our planned bespoke web and forum presence, all the preparation material behind the 2012 Plan, the agenda and the minutes for each meeting will be made available to members in an archive section, along with a calendar with diarised Steering Group meetings.

    **Neil
    Secretary
    MHBP **

  • Awesome! Go Manchester polo!

  • is there a planned price minus tee.....?

i'm not a big polo tee wearer, but happy to pay towards our organisation.....

  • ^ Marek - good to hear from you! Please PM me your address - we want all the original players to be involved with the MHBP!

Adam - yes, that's not a problem re. shirtless discount. We will let everyone know the reduction in fees once we've costed the shirt out. I'd ask you reserve judgement until you've seen the design/quality + they'll be collectors items one day... ;-)

  • coolio

  • When are the UK tourneys? I know I saw a list but can't find it now.
