dyspeptic - irritable as if suffering from indigestion
    atrabilious, liverish, bilious
ill-natured - having an irritable and unpleasant disposition

  • My boss had his bike stolen from outside our offices in Blackfriars (10 Fleet Place, EC4M) last Thursday - it's a silver Canondale CADEX 105, 51cm frame - know this is a shot in the dark, but any information greatly appreciated!

  • ^ anything recognisable about it? I have one and haven't seen many others around. Will look out for it if you can tell me what to look for.

  • I've noticed that bike locked outside and thought it was a brave soul who left it there. Sorry to hear my worst thoughts have come true.

  • Strangely I have no desire to kneecap anybody. I'm just really sad. Loved that bike and it's just gone.

Rattlebag, forgive me for asking but Dagmar Rd is about 4 streets away from where I live and I tend to use my bike locally, how was your bike locked up when it was stolen? Really hope you get it back, do you have any pics of it built not just the frame? Would make it easier to keep an eye out especially as it's local.

But I'll post it here in case someone spots it in Brick Lane or something....

Hello neighbour. It was actually stolen from inside my flat, so not locked up at all. The burglar forced my ground floor window open. Think he also tried to do the same to another flat on dagmar the same evening, so worth making sure your windows are extra secure if you live nearby.

Thanks, certainly was a beaut. No pics of the full build, sadly, it was pretty new. Was going to wait until I'd cut the steerer. That's vanity for you.

  • ^^ That's really shitty, I'll certainly keep an eye out you never know. The kids around here are pretty brazen and if it gets sold on locally by the thief then it may well get ridden around locally.

  • ^ anything recognisable about it? I have one and haven't seen many others around. Will look out for it if you can tell me what to look for.

Thanks Howard - it was a relatively new bike - he'd had it for less than 6 months - it had a black specialized saddle on it and panier racks, but little else distinctive. Appreciate you taking the time to keep an eye out for it

  • it had a black specialized saddle on it and panier racks, but little else distinctive.

That's enough - I'll keep my eye out for it.

  • Hi there, lovely little metallic grey Cooper Sebring T100 single speed stolen 7.00pm last night Thurs 9 Feb from a secure underground carpark in St Katherine's Dock. My mate (to whom I loaned the bike) has seen good CCTV footage of the whole thing including facial, and I will try to get hold of this to post. In the meantime, if anyone sees it around .... it has (or did, at least) an immobilise sticker with the rfid tag down the seatpost. I had flipped the stem up the other way so the riding position was not as aggressive. Any help appreciated.

  • Yesterday at about 2pm, my flat in Archway was broken into - 2 x bikes and a laptop were taken. Here are the details:

    Ribble Road Bike
Matt black 58cm Ribble Aluminium frame
    Campagnolo Khamsin gold wheels
    Campagnolo Mirage 9 speed groupset
    Fizik Arione saddle
    Schwalbe Ultremo tyres
    Crank Bros Egg Beater pedals
    Super short 60mm Deda stem
    Bent mech hanger

    Merlin Fixed Winter Bike
Bright red 58cm Merlin of Leeds frame
    Chrome steel fork
(I think this might have been a one off frame, so if you see a bright red Merlin it's almost certainly this one.)
Black Alex rims laced to Ambrosio hubs
Sugino Messenger cranks 165mm - extraction thread buggered on drive side
    Black Scott saddle
    Mismatched black brake calipers
Crud RoadRacer mudguards front and back
Silver road drop bars with black tape and Tektro brake levers
    Here is the frame:

  • ah shit, bad news ben. hope you get them back

  • Lest we forget, most bikes are stolen from homes. Good luck in finding them, Ben. You have reported it to police, haven't you? If so, did they get you to fill in those very detailed bike theft reporting forms as part of their information-gathering? It's worth doing that if you haven't already. Also make sure you send the pictures to the Cycle Task Force:

    http://www.lfgss.com/thread52193.html

They can use pictures, especially of distinctive bike frames, because if they see them on the street they are likely to remember them and can take action. They also often recover bikes and can't trace the owners.

  • Shit Ben, I'm gutted for you. I'll keep a good look out for both.

  • Thanks guys. I had contents insurance which covers everything, so hopefully it will all pan out OK and I'll end up with a new road bike that fits me properly!

I have reported this to the police and they came round to take details and fingerprints etc. However, they didn't mention anything about the detail forms and I haven't spoken to the Cycle Task Force. Thanks Oliver - I'll get onto this right away. I have frame numbers and all that so hopefully this will help them get a conviction against the toerag that did it.

I tried embedding the pictures above, but they keep changing themselves back to links. Why is this happening? Filesize too big or something?

  • Ribble:

    Merlin:

  • Pictures seem alright now - thanks Doktor!

  • This is shit news Ben. Hope they catch the fokkers!

  • Three tramps, One with bike not looking like theirs. Just up from shore ditch station. White old steel frame fixed convert. Orange tyres. Flat bars. Black seat. Sorry for prejudice or to any tramps on here owning that bike.

  • White old steel frame fixed convert. Orange tyres. Flat bars. Black seat. .

    Sounds awful

  • I don't think tramps would brake locks or anything, they probably got it after it was stolen

  • There is a certain overlap between the homeless and the criminal communities, you know. I know of one hostel over by Clapham where you're pretty much guaranteed to find a few stolen bicycles.
