  • wow, the rats done you too?
How do these creatures have the audacity to breathe the same oxygen as us cyclists?
    bad karma for them maaaaaaaan

  • I bought a frame from here, but I have problems. The seller wrote in the description that the frame is nicely powder coated to high standard, but when I recived the frame I noticed that decals under lacquer are really poorly applied - it looks like the whole decal has lots of tiny air pockets under it or its like old dried glue is stuck under decals, I really cant tell for sure, because Im not an expert on that. He provided quite good photos, but none of them showed the decals up close only from distance where the the defects are not noticable. Also the top tube has lots of small/tiny dents that he did not mention and did not show in the pictures.
So is it possible to ask for compensation from the seller? I like that frame and I want to build it up, but I would not have bought it if I had knew the defects the frame has.
    Any thoughts?

  • contact the seller and see what he says, I wouldn't be happy.

  • Did you pay over the odds for it? It could be that it was priced with these defects taken into account.

  • ^ I don't think it matters what price you've put on something, you should always state any defects. Otherwise you're misleading (intentionally or otherwise) people into thinking that they're getting a good deal, when in reality they might be ending up with an item that doesn't match their needs.

  • Been resolved, anyway?

  • An obvious scam - seller states that it's a "list of wholesellers" not an actual product, yet people keep falling for it:

    Please report to eBay.

  • well, this isn't too bad to begin with

  • has anyone bought anything from internet-bikes.com?(http://www.internet-bikes.com/?gclid=CLPyxZ7l3q0CFQe-3godaT9YOA)
ordered a saddle and they've practically had me over-as they're an online company I think I can pursue recompense.
    They're based in Holland.

A couple of years ago, I ordered 2 pairs of handlebar streamers for my little girl's kid bike.
I remember that I took quite long and a few phone calls and/or emails to get them.
Okay, finally I got my stuff, but a lot more effort than most other web shops.
    I wouldn't recommend this one.

I think, late I found out that Hema had the same stuff...

  • JE James cycles.

Ordered a Token BB from them.

Not only did it take 8 days to arrive, when it arrived instead of looking like this

    it looks like this

I rang them, they said return it and they'd send out the correct one. I'm not sure if I want to do further business with a company sending out blatantly repackaged OEM parts....

  • at least they have a good sense of humor?..

  • Not a trader as such, but I strongly advise against anyone using the services of the courier Collect Plus. They're part of Yodel, which should tell you something. I'm currently battling to get compensation for a 'lost' parcel.

  • I ordered tyres from JE James this week and they arrived in 2 days and you can re-arrange the delivery day by text and they have 1 hr slots so you don't have to wait in half the day. So, maybe they have bad days like every other shop?

  • Sending a JIS instead of an ISO, or a 103mm instead of a 111mm, I'd excuse... But sending a pos bb in a different box (not even with the correct length or taper marked on it)... How does that even happen?

  • not wanting to tar an entire company with one brush, but at the same time wanting to tell a story, my gf just got quoted £23 to fix a front wheel puncture at Evans in Victoria! I understand it's a Friday afternoon and all but jayzus fuck that, £18 in labour, seriously?!

note: she can fix it, but didn't have to tools on her

  • Standard puncture service is £13.95, not including new inner tube (£4.99* nowadays bringing it to £18.94) therein beg the question of what inner tube cost £9.

    *standard spesh 700c 20/28c 32mm presta value.

    Here's the workshop price sheet;

Everytime I have been into the Evans store in Victoria, the guys have been arrogant, and not that helpful.

When I have been into the one in Notting Hill every time they couldn't be more pleasant, had a really good chat with an older guy in there who fixed my loosening crank bolts for free.

Amazing how their stores vary in customer service!

  • Gosh, it's almost like they're real people.

Ha - a good friend is the manager of Victoria - i'll let him know.

  • It's worth talking to the manager if you're not happy with the service, it will continued if you don't do anything about it, worth finding out their name (on their shirt naturally) if it's just a particular staff.

alternately you can send an email to customer service.

Not terrible service but there, but just made to feel inferior, and patronised, whereas the Notting Hill store people are always friendly and talk to me on my level.

  • It just shows how hard it is to grow a business as fast as they have. When you need to find a fuckload of staff quickly, you'll get a few rotten apples along with the good ones
