  • Grr, so hungry

  • Well done to 6pts for eating this:

    And a 1/4 of a Jacobs ladder

  • I just came back from Thailand, and British food just isn't cutting it for me. I need to go back!

  • Well done to 6pts for eating this:

    And a 1/4 of a Jacobs ladder

Don't want to see this ever again.

  • I had to really concentrate to finish it all - the chicken was so dry and as I left it 'til the end so it was a kind of tasty torture.

The burnt ends were very good, pulled pork a bit dry, ribs (all different types), very good - the best for me was the jacobs ladder which was so ludicrously moist. I just touched it with a fork and it fell apart.

Nuno, I'm kind of glad you didn't come. I would have been ashamed to watch you staring at us in utter disgust.

  • Those look smaller than I remember...

  • Pulled pork was a bit dry yes, stupidly filling too. My chicken was lovely and the ribs were brilliant. Loins buffalo wings were lush too

I rather foolishly had a few helpings of this for breakfast:

The meat sweats came back straight away. Had some brilliantly blueberry muffins from the local polish bakery with it though

  • Making chicken, leek and mushroom pie.
I won't be eating it, but the filling is delicious.

  • Went with a pal to Soho's Secret Tea Room this afternoon. Real nice, like. Bit pricey for tea and cake but of course it would be.

    Coconut cupcake - amazing.
    Orange Marmalade cake - amazing.
    Scone (Fruit) - amazing.
Blackcurrant Jam - Slightly too tart for my liking but very good.
    Clotted cream - very good.
Egg mayo sandwiches x 2 (on white) - very good.
cucumber sandwiches x 2 (on white) - very good.
salmon sandwiches x 2 (on brown) - salmon decent, bread quite stale.

Tea (English Breakfast) - Perfectly OK. Not amazing. Unfortunately we both ordered it and it was served in a big assed pot so it stewed very quickly. But they topped it up with fresh water and it gave it a bit of life.

Setting - nice. Bit on the trendy side of chintzy. It's above the Coach and Horses on Greek Street.

We just walked in but they asked if we had booked. We hadn't. So they gave us an hour. Think we stayed longer and eventually they brought the bill to us before we asked.

Nice staff, nice china, definitely worth a visit. Good date material.

    14.50 each

  • Incidentally my pal, for his 14.50 received the same but opted for a lemon cupcake and for cake he chose coffee and walnut. He said the lemon cupcake was very dry but the coffee and walnut cake was outstanding.

  • ^Interesting, I love afternoon tea, always on the look out for somewhere nice. Fave so far has been Hidden Tea Room, endless courses of perfect home-baked stuff made by a couple with real passion for food. Plus it was it my birthday so they did a candles and champagne bit, lovely.

  • I'm a relatively recent convert to the idea but I'm all for it.

Shall certainly hit up the Hidden Tea Room.

  • The vege cafe Food for Thought on Neal Street in Covent Garden is awesome.

Went there today with the family for lunch. It's really good food, and i'm not even vege!

  • get yourself the cookbook and treat yourself at home , very easy to follow steps

  • ^my dad's partner bought it. Definitely going to try some stuff out.

  • A little beef steak

  • I just ordered 2 family size pizzas

Around the corner from my office and a usual lunch spot. The scrunch. The scrunch!

  • Ate a packet of pork scratchings last night, feel guilty.....but still reminded that the simplest culinary pleasures in life are best. Took me 4 mins to get to Tescos to buy them, takes Heston Annoying Glasses Blumenwotsit 3 days to make his, and his look like rice crispies.

  • I want one. Had one growing up, was totally wonderful.

I'll consider that a dibs on one of the tubs of starter when I give them out then!

  • This will be Victoria sponge shortly. Can't wait.

  • What is it now then? What potentialities do these mounds possess?

  • ^^^^ People keep coming into my shop and asking for 'neutral flavoured popping candy' thanks to Annoying Glasses Blumenwotsit

I've taken to giving them an extended poker face then explaining that sweet shops don't really sell anything with a 'neutral flavour'
