Let's be clear this is what we used to refer to as a "light dusting" and is now a "downfall" - what the chuff we will be like in a couple of years Heaven only knows.
If ever there was a case of htfu....

Just had an awesome ride home. I love snow. Had the same problem with stinging eyes: https://twitter.com/#!/Sparkes/status/165987500706369538
Jesus, Matt.
You went out in public looking like that??
You fashioned a visor from cardboard. It's a slippery slope, my friend. Next thing you know it'll be papier mache pants and cereal box vests and blotting paper socks.
It's ridiculous. Take it off and have a fucking word with yourself.

I just hope it all melts before dusk, so we don't have an icey death trap tomorrow.

Yeh, that was the issue for me last night. Snow schmo, but it was a rink on top of a rutted rink by the time I came home at about 1 ish.

It was that or close my eyes and rely entirely on memory for the six miles home. I realise now that I made the wrong choice. The shame...

Polobike w. Schwalbe TableTops & Disc Brakes. My most effective snow commuter ever.
When it turns to Ice, however, I prefer to ride on my trackbike. 22c tyres pumped to 145psi to cut a channel into the ice.

Interesting tactics CG. I just let my 25s on the Koga down to 85 psi thinking that it would be the way forward. Good on the main roads with all the slush but pretty shit on the snowy bits. Need more bikes, mentioned it to Mrs Wrongcog this morning before I left and she reminded me that the Koga was supposed to be a "winter bike".
Oh and don't listen to Lucifer Sparky, very smart I say! I feel a Nathan Barley moment coming on. All the kids in Tokyo will be sporting cardboard and head torches before the weeks end.

if you have the clearance in the koga for 32's, you should try running a 23c inside an old 28c you've screwed wood screws through from the underside. Heavy as hell but works surprisingly well.

bah itshorrible out there already slushy

^^ sounds proper gnarly! Mad max solutions FTW. With my mudguards on I have just enough clearance for 25 - 28.

If you've got room you could put stubby zip ties around the tyre and rim.

If it snows again before I leave work I'm going to try that.

I don't think that'll help much against the cold.

Drove home from a party in Sutton last night at 3am when the worst of it was coming down. Was parked on a hill which was jokes to get out of.
Were it not a 16mi mission(and Lady Liz's outfit was not bike-compatible) it would have been fun to ride it. Been out on 19mm slicks today, its fine, just filthy. Bored of it already. -

Am about to get the train back to London, and will arrive around 10pm. Should I take the pomp with cx tires at 40psi and spinny gear of 39/18, or will ordinary road bike on 23mm be fine for central London? There's no snow/ice where I am atm.

Most of the roads when I came to the office a few hours ago were wet and slushy, but not slippy. It's just parks/pavements that are a menace.

Snowing heavily in Coventry city centre for the last couple of days. I have spent about two hours standing on my balcony watching cars slip and skid all over the road. Seen two slow-motion accidents already... which is funny until you see some people driving at normal speeds (with snow covering their indicators) not realising that their brakes will almost literally do nothing.
