^ lolz! It is the machine which has been on sale for some years before Rapha came along and added, er, a sticker.
I think the above machine escaped this radical upgrade.

Hold on, is that a Rapha coffee machine?
No pink dials here:)
It is the same company, but a different model (a bit higher up the range than the Rapha one but cheaper as at has been spared the Motrem magic)....
We got a new kitchen which the wife pushed the boat out on so this is how I got my own back. It is plumbed in so no need to fill with water. What joy. We even plumbed in a filter under the sink which should look after the machine with Londons famous hard London water.

I did a similiar thing last year when we moved into our new house. I bought a La Spaziale Vivaldi cheap of the 'bay, got it restored then fully plumbed in with a water filter. It's a double boiler and the steam boiler is big enough to make cups of tea etc with. Instant hot filtered water is awesome. Still getting used to brewing and steaming at the same time. It was expensive but all in it was well under half the retail cost. Should last me years too.

Guys, I just bought this Cunill Tauro commercial grinder in great nick for £60 here:
Dude has also got a Brasilia 2-group machine which looked like a total beast for £320. His brother had to close up a cafe, so they are clearing out a lot of stuff.

Ethiopia Konga Peaberry from hasbean is full of win. Aeropress. The Rwanda kigoma fully washed red bourbon isn't far behind either. #happycoffeedays
That Konga Peaberry blew my mind. Such unusual smells and tastes. Ordered another bag along with Steve Leighton's personal favourite Bolivia Machacamarca de Berengula. Stoked to get going on that.

really enjoying the smell from the Federation Espresso Blend beans when I open the jar, no good at explaining that sort of thing but its really appetising

Spot on. Pretty sure I've had some of that Bolivian last year and fully enjoyed too.

Picked up a kilogram of Square Mile Red Brick. Followed their recipe, ie. 18g coffee//30g brewed liquid//25-30s, though I still think as a straight espresso it's a bit too tart. However, as a milk drink it's great; there's no sign of sourness, but instead just a rich fruity flavour. I'm going to try it in the Aeropress now.

any ideas on where to get decent beans in wembley or clapham? me mate has taken delivery of a new machine and is gagging to start playing and wants to grab some beans today
-
• #5462
If he can nip from Clapham to Brixton, federation coffee sell beans by Nude to go.

I couldn't make it over to Brixton but I managed to get hold of some Climpsons Estate from birdhouse on St Johns Hill (next door to the London cycle workshop - where I work - don't know why I didn't think of there first). Thanks for the advice anyhow!

You got an absolutely spanking machine there

I'll wait for the metal polish to arrive and then I'll post some artfully shot pictures of the setup!

Nailed my aeropress/porlex combo now. Loving it. Got some great beans from Allpress coffee shop (don't drink in there, but the beans are pretty good).

Girlfriend bought me a tin of Fortnum and Mason Xmas blend for, well, Xmas. Brought it to work. Some arsehole has yanked it.
Angry notes have been placed. I'm going to shank this coffe-nicking prick in the face.

My Gaggia seems to under heat the water, even if I am waiting more than 10 min for it to heat up :(

try turning on the steam switch for a bit then switch it off and run the brew pump. that should up the temperature

I think it might!

That should work, to get the temp up, but in the long term I'd measure what temp you are getting and consider swapping the hot water thermostat.
Hold on, is that a Rapha coffee machine?
