I did this single speed last year and it was fine. Particularly pleased with getting up a few hills that lycra'd, geared types had walked up and getting applause from said types. Not all of them mind but it would prob make very little difference if I was geared/ss/fixed #suckathills

Will be doing it fixed this year fo'shure.

Thanks for this. Fixed it is then. Will do a recce of this Canonbie hill to see what i'm letting myself in for!

So I'm a little worried - I'm SURE the website confirmed my entry (I was in a bit of a hurry when I did it) but am pretty sure I haven't had a confirmation email. Was that something I needed to request specifically?

Nah, nobody got a confirmation email. Apparently you just turn up on the day.

As I understand it, the entries all go into a Google docs spreadsheet as soon as you hit the "submit" button, so they perhaps don't have the facility to send an automatic email. Maybe they'll send emails out when they hit the target number of entries, or closer to the date. Hope so, anyway, as I've already forgotten what the instructions were for turning up :|

Rastafari Greetings to each and every one,
Wowzers - 47 of the 300 riders, which is a shade under 1 in 6 on this will be riding for 'TEAM LFGSS'
That is great. There is one month to go...
For me my training has not gone to plan. in late January I tore one of my quadroceps - the vastus medialis for the spotters.
I did this on a ride, just pulled away from a junction and something popped and ripped simultaneously in my knee area.
Intense pain and an inability to straighten my right leg was the result. With the help of the Father I somehow got home again.
Three weeks off the bike. Limp just about gone now but still cannot kneel down properly.
Back riding slowly but sure.
Hopefully I will make it around the course before the imaginary broom wagon sweeps me up.
One good thing that has come out of this is it reminds you how blessed we are to have good health and how we mustn't take the body for granted....
So enough of me, good luck with the training for this one and see you at the start line.
