full disclosure: I have the essentials case, too; and love it (just use it for spare tube, patch, levers, tool and swap between bags/jerseys). Mottram freebies still welcome.

Is the softshell an all year jacket or just suitable for the winter?
-
• #7629
Softshell - for use in Scotland in Summer? On that one day I would not elect to wear it. Of course every other day, bang on
You London types should get a full year minus a couple of weeks in June I reckons

It's a great commuting jacket, late Sept - May I would say. Under £40 a year if you wear it for five years, and use the discount ^...

With the softshell, at first you think it will be shit....but it is so not!

It wipes my bum for me.

Milwaukee getting more and more worn now.
Just ordered the Rapha with the discount code, way too expensive, but hopefully and reassuringly nice.

I 've been wearing the Bomber jacket for nearly two weeks now, not every day, and I have to say I'm dissappointed.
the jersey ribbing, being made out of polyester is bobbling and looks really worn, the collar shows qite a bit of wear as well. The zips are too small to use with gloves on, and often get stuck in the seam. the back is not really cut long enough and rides up.
I dont know what their criteria for water resistance is, but i've worn in a light shower, and while the first few drops bead up, after a minute or two the fabric has definitely soaked up water. It looks ok off the bike, but it's certainly not a technical or as high quality as I was expecting. For £80 I can't really complain, (actually that's what I'm doing) but if I'd bought this at full priced I'd be peeved.
My Endura Fusion is a much better jacket, it's just a little too bikey to wear on an evening out. I'd like a middle way.

^^City rain jacket for the middle way win? I don't think there has been much chat about it, or much about the rain jacket on the thread. Anyone got one? Any good? How does it shape up in the usual breathable vs waterproof chat?

^^ see upthread for many similar comments about the weather-resistance or otherwise of the bomber jacket. I find the zips just about okay with gloves. The ribbing cuffs etc don't seem to much worse after the first couple of weeks' wear - mine still looks fine after a year of wearing a fair bit. Cut could definitely do with tweaking, so that the back stays put or just a bit longer. but then, they were heavily discounted, guess these complaints are the reason why.

I'm happy with it at 80quid.. it's a nice general use jacket but yeah I carry a proper water proof with me just incase

Just interested in Ed's sartorial hints and tips

Can anyone help with the fit of the Cross Jersey (L/S) please?
Just how fitted is 'fitted'? I'm usually a medium and the sizing guide suggests a medium but I don't want it to be too... avant garde.
Will going up a size be too long in the arms and body?
Thanks!

I have one and rate it highly. It is very breathable on a 10 miles commute through London and keeps you very dry. I fell off quite hard and landed on my shoulder recently and there is hardly a mark. It is worth getting in my opinion.
