  • Hand wash, never use machine.

  • wash at 30 degrees, never use conditioner
errrrr.....does that include those merino winter socks you left here yesterday?

  • wash at 30 degrees, never use conditioner

Build up of said oil/wax sometimes requires warmer temps or more aggressive cleaners. Have never used conditioners/softeners et cetera. Always hang to dry.

  • Hand wash, never use machine.

Bull, no way I'm going to hand wash 50% of my clothing!

  • Get your partner to do it, silly!

  • Even less of a chance of that!

  • Get your partner to do it, silly!
    so they can do this...

  • See? That wouldn't happen if they were hand washed. :)

  • Who will then speak for my Barbie's frigid feet?

  • "Who will then speak for my Barbie's frigid feet?"

    is that John Keats?

  • is that you, John Keats?

My foggy veil has been lifted.

  • As of January 1st, howies got small again.

When we were sold to Timberland in 2006 we we became a tiny part of a $2 billion company and that was not easy.

When VF bought Timberland last September we became a miniscule part of a $10 Billion corporation.

So while everybody was crunching the big numbers, the howies management team quietly bought the business back.

We thank VF for giving us the opportunity to be small again.

    .

  • Very interesting. I wonder what will happen with them now. It makes me feel like placing an order now, just to congratulate them.

  • Having said that, they don't actually say who bought the company. If it's the original founders, great. But "management team" could mean a lot of things. I've asked them, will post here if I hear back.

  • the guy who started howies is now making jeans. nice, but pricey jeans i'd imagine

  • That's either genius (no pun intended), or shite....... I need to see the product before elaborating...

  • Any reviews knocking about on here of this;

I need some new bib shorts/ tights and might as well order a nice long sleeve baselayer at the same time. I don't really see the point in a short sleeve baselayer to be honest. as once it warms up I'll be wearing just a jersey anyhow. Or am I missing something?

  • ^ I have the zip version, they are pretty good for the money, has lasted well........

  • Thinking of buying the Planet X merino wool bundle - what do there sizings come up like though? I fall in the medium size about 38 but it says the size of the tops are the width not your chest size. Does this mean I could pick up a large and it'll fit like a base layer?

Seems like too good a deal to pass up on. I just don't want to buy the wrong sizes.

Also does 150gsm or 190 gsm actually mean much?

  • Never mind.

Popped in to M & S at lunch merino wool top (long sleeve) for £15. It's not 100% merino but would that really make much difference?

  • Yes.

  • From a bit of googling it seems people are very happy with the M&S merino for cycling. I'll give it a go if it smells funny after a couple of days I'll not buy another one.

Also Uniqlo have a sale on at the moment with merino wool. Might buy a long sleeve (£20) down from £40.

  • just got a couple of planet x merino 120gm in the post.
very nice. well made, good fit and the merino seems much nicer than the endura baa baa i also have.
plus the fact that it was only 20 quid per top is just an added bonus!

  • I have said about the planetnx for ages......spot on
