I'm going to build a wheelsets with velocity A23 (852g pair) and Mack superlight hubset (47g F, 175g R).

add 280g for 64 spokes, 20g nipples, and hopefully should be a durable lightweight wheelset for all kind of riding estimated around 1400g.

Probably will be closer to 1600g giving how manufacturer tend to overestimated their claim weight.

Sounds great Ed. Not heard much about the Mack hubs though, I went with Miche hubs, which surprisingly are lighter than hope and Ultegra hubs, bloody silent too, very easy to service which was another plus in my books.

I wouldn't hesitate in recommending this wheel set to anyone who wants a solid set for commuting/ training/ audax.

Come to think of it you could build up a lower spoke set and have quite a nice pair of climbing wheels.
