This week is a no-go as I've used up all the credits I've been saving on the much coveted Beer Pass so next week would work better for me.
Thing is it takes 10 miles to get out of Manchester
sadly so, but I suspect there are some routes out of Chorlton that we could play-pretend we're further than we really are - Neil or Em will know 'em. Nice-ish roads start at Northenden. Hence the call for summat more substantial - just bring an extra flapjack and fill yer water bottle will whiskey. -

When are you two muffins doing this - I'm probably available from 11am tomorrow if you want an old hand to guide you...

I vote for Tuesday, though can also make Monday or Wednesday...

I'm buying a road bike, full lycra and aero helmet, so I might be in for this

Mostly flat innit.
Variable. After brooklands theres two uphills (past Alt Garden Centre) and a descent to Hale, then rolling through Ashley, Tatton, to Knutsford.
That's my commute route, I know it pretty well...

Yeah but not /proper/ hills. At least not for folk with /proper/ bikes, like, with more than one gear...
-

I'm not going if Rob's in full lycra.
just sayin.

nude run it is

I'm well and truly confused. Though this could be hunger or the fact I've been plying with blood for teh past 3 hours.
WHAT'S GOING ON?!?

To make it simple - I'm happy to lead a ride starting from Chorlton to Jodrell Bank for lunch and back (est. 20m round trip and pretty damn flat) - start 11am. PM me if in and for my address.
PS. It will be cold...

when will this be?

Tomorrow (Wednesday)... why do you ask - you don't do road, only everdecreasing circles, you'll just hold us up... ;-)

ill do one next week, when I get a more suitable bike
-

Rob I bet you turn up on a pimped carbon thing with Dura Ace all over it.
-
• #92
bet you a pimped crabon dura ace bike that I don't
-
• #93
I can't afford this bet as you would appear with a polo bike to spite me.

Boooo, I'm a Working Man with Responsibilities so no-go on the mid-day mid-week rides :(
I have howeer been given a pass or Saturday - will be free from 11am if that suits anyone? A trip to Jodrell would be spiffing, as would riding through the High Peaks.
Drew - your nemesis appeals too (or another month with another paycheque). How far is it/what elevation/what gradients?
I did a lovely wee trip through Marple-Charleston-Glossop conquering Snake Pass, but the way home through Hyde is utterly depressing... I like the idea of carrying on around and doing an epic loop round t'peaks and back up through Blue John to home. Not looked at how far that would be but I'm guessing at least 60miles of beautiful agony if anyone is suitably masochistic enough to join me? I personally will need at least three normal auto-torturous rides to build up to that after our months out of the saddle! And a kilo of flapjacks.
nude - the ultimate in aero... at least it would be in this cold!

don't think I've ever done more than 10 miles or so in one go on road, smaller warm ups would be nice, won't be playing sunday so could do a saturday ride, but doubt I'll have a new bike by then, I could whack a freewheel on the fixie for now though if it aint too long
-
• #96
Here's the shorter route including the hill I hate/love:

&referrer=trackListRob if we work out a route fixed ride?

I've a got new freewheel on it's way, so I can put the old one on my fuji and flip the wheel, no hills though
-
• #98
Jeez, Drew, that looks very ouch indeed! Have you ever done the reverse ride? WHEEEEEEEEEEEE!
Rob, you can use one of mine if you want - you're about the same height as me intcha? inside leg 31", I think. Have you fancy shmancy cleated shoes yet? I've got crank bros candy on both me roadie and mtb. i don't even bother with the bike shoes around town but you might find a longer excursion a bit of a ball (of yer foot) ache without em.

Gisburn Forest isn't far from Clit-hero, if anyone fancy 18km of red route fun with a smattering of black-belt insanity???

yes, but again no bike,
I've got shoes, I think i've got some crank bros cleats somewhere too, or I now have spare spd pedals to fit instead
