  • £14? Bargain. I'll take it.

  • @£14 second dibs...

Alright then, I'll give you £15...

  • Reported what?

Open to offers on this one, I didn't actually want the f&f just the Chater lea equipment plus the cane rims that came with it. Any reasonable offers, swaps or part exchanges etc will be considered.

  • pm sent

  • Wonder if you could run this with a normal
    fork?

  • Yep not a problem, would convert to regular track iron or awesome uswb road fixie.

  • maybe it's just me but the majority of stayer frames I've come across seem to have a much longer head tube, could be the geometry has taken this into account....does the fork steerer tube have a matching number to the frame? would be good to see it built up with its original period components

Having received a shouty PM from the OP, just to clarify, where I said "reported" above, it was in reference to bodieanddoyle entering into a bidding war. Which would be against the forum rules.

Thing is, what you're doing seems alot like fishing, which is also prohibited, however, I have not reported you, or b&d funnily enough.

  • I've reported everyone who's posted here.

    Including myself.

  • What provenance do you have for the frame ?

  • What makes you say it's pre war? What's the frame number? Thanks.

  • This is quite something and very possibly pre war judging by the lug work etc.

  • To be fair he did not mention which war.

  • 24" with sloping top tube hence short head tube. Fitted with 24"/26" cane wheels, stayer stem, 42t 1" pitch (equivalant to 84t) chainring, adjustable supports to bars & saddle etc when purchased.

Lugs, chater style d/outs, tangs on fork crown, head clamp etc scream pre-war! No racing history and parts required for 'Bastide' project hence sale, consider swap/part exchange.

  • The headclip does not mean it is pre war. What is the frame number?

  • Frame No - NG0047 Think you will find in this instance it certainly does!

  • To be fair he did not mention which war.

Will you stop talking about the war?

Perhaps you should have a little read-

    Good point:

    Classiclightweights says:

    Frame Numbers
Between five and 15 were built per week pre-war with 95% or so being to the ‘Flying Gate’ design though conventional models were still available. Frame numbers it is believed started at about 100 and reached nearly 1000 before the war and to about 2000 when production ceased.

However, being a stayer - they might well have had alternative numbers.

  • Weird set up on the seat-tube -funny little bracket thing- not seen a Baines Whirlwhind or VS with that before.
