You could go Le Havre - Portsmouth, but I don't think it would be much better than Calais - Dover, or Rotterdam - Harwich.
No direct long distance ferries to Bristol I believe.
Google maps says 12 hours over Le Havre (but a fair bit of that is on the ferry).
Over Calais its 7.5 hours, but only 1 hour on the ferry.
Over Rotterdam it's 9.5 hours, and again a fair bit of that is on the ferry.
