Me and Sam were out at the courts until 7 waiting for people to show up. The court was plenty grippy in the very light rain and in my mind a two on two is better than no polo.
I don't like the lists for polo, I think that if people see only one or two names down, they won't bother making the effort. If they think everyone else is going, they will follow the crowd and turn up. Not everyone checks the forum every 5 minutes and it sucks when people have to turn back after making the trip out to the courts.
If people do want to make lists, it should be finalised at least one day before the session and people should stick to their intentions, unless there is seriously bad weather in which case one person should put a definitive message up at least an hour before play.
I would have seriously appreciated a text about the sessions yesterday being 'cancelled' because I checked the forum at 5.45 and had no reason to assume that others wouldn't be coming. I had a shitty day in the library and really wanted to let out some energy on the court.

ok so how will we know who's going to be in attendance and decide if it's worth turning up? what about the people who don't have everybody's number? will we not end up making some kind of less obvious list in this thread, with people saying there coming, and often dropping out just the same? i'm sorry nobody text u to say they weren't coming. everybody i spoke to said they weren't coming so i assumed as u was at the uni already and it was raining u would of just gone home. but of course to assume makes an ass of u and me and i apologise for that.

What's the problem here Tim? I'll admit it sucks to be kept waiting in the cold for an hour or more but blaming the forum list is a bit straw-clutching... You just had the bad luck to be on the receiving end of a no-show. I got your text and replied, there's not much else you could have done.
There's no central organiser amongst our group, people decide on their own whether to turn up. Rainy days are always a bit ropey for attendance too.

I know I'm being moody here, I had a shit day yesterday and am venting.
I have always had a problem with the lists because I see the idea of suggesting there won't be enough people to play as a self-fulfilling prophecy. If we hadn't said anything on the forum, 4 people would have showed up and we would have had a session.
When was the last time a session didn't happen when it wasn't pouring down with rain? If it's an unusual session or if there's something else happening then a list is justified, otherwise I think it puts people off by giving an unrealistic view of people who are commited/not commited.
The only people who I would realistically think would regularly use a list are Me, Danny, Dice, Josh and Chris. That means that other than the random uses by other people, we are always going to assume turnout will be low.

Seriously looking forward to sunday too, sounds like it should be-a-right-on turn out, eh?
Nice one Danny btw, i kinda thought you were kidding the other day about next weds! High five. Finally, my Pomp arrives today. Heck yes. Can't wait to get it up and running. Dice - i heard you on the in-bred mtb and its a tough choice working out what I like best but nobody has a bad thing to say about pompinos really, especially for polo purposes and comparing the geo etc between the two I recon this is right for me. I will, however, definately be picking you up on your offer of helping spec it out :)
Roll on sundaze/x

Sorry about Wednesday, y'all. Had a mate's funeral in the morning and a very drunken wake all afternoon. Fully intend to be present and incorrect at both Danny's "stag" and polo on Sunday.I have got a 1st birthday party on Saturday afternoon though so not promising I'll be in any fit state! x
@Tim - Sorry dude. I definitely had some spare cleats etc in the tool bag...but no longer??

No worries Chris, thanks for looking.
Anyone else who might have a single cleat knocking around?
Did anyone pick up my maroon wool jumper on Sunday?
