  • Cheers mate, i did actually buy a paintpen but had a momentary fail and forgot to check what size tip it had. Ended up with a medium so just used the paint from it with a brush!

  • Is that a paint or powder coat?

  • Powdercoat with metallic laquer courtesy of armourtex.

  • Shiny shiny. Looks good, got a photo of the whole thing?

  • Need to get out and take some decent pics. Just snapped this one for ya

Excuse the triple brake lever arrangement, currently toying with different cockpit setups.

  • reckon I'd go for the double hoods....

  • Yeah thats what i'm thinking. Fitted those dia compe "touring" drop bar levers last week but i don't really get on with the lever position and not a fan of the cable coming out the top of the hood. Never ridden with hoods before and i really like them, much better for climbing and a better position overall. Waiting for a pair of Cane Creek ones to arrive hopefully next week which were recommended to me and then i'll drop the dirty harry into the parts bin.

  • Someone advised me to use a fine paint pen for it, easier to get it neat. Looks like you dun aright though.

I must have got the wrong pens, mine just wiped off. Yes, I cleaned the tubes with meths beforehand. I'll have to check on the brand name, don't have them here right now.

  • this looks nice!

    Thank you

Ted James aka superted - http://www.tedjamesdesign.com/contact/

He's the frame builder! that guy is awesome

  • almost done :D

  • What handle bars are they?!

  • nice bike, and beautiful cranks aris :)

  • I'm sure the planet_x brakes where discussed earlier in this thread. If you can't find the page (I can't) then I know for a fact that there's a thread on Weight Weenies if you search.

  • thanks, found this and am reassured by this statement "They work just fine. I have a set and have used Dura Ace, Ultegra, and Cane Creek in the past. I do a lot of high-speed mtn descents here in Utah, so I wouldn't use them unless I had grown to trust them.

One downside is they have no quick-release, so you have to pop the little barrel out of its slot or leave the gap loose enough to get your wheel out without widening the gap. I considered it a small price to pay for the enormous weight savings and super bargain price. "

  • Or read the reviews of Kurve brakes, since the mechanical design is the same, the PX forged ones just have a bit more metal after being adapted for cheaper mass production

  • thanks mdcc_tester, reviews are mostly positive as far as I can/want to see ;)

  • Picked this up yesterday - going to be a quick build.

Looking forward to seeing this built up..

  • frame and build look promising so far, but is there any way to fix the poor chainline?

  • Only by using proper SS cranks or spacing the sprocket out by 3mm. Spacing the sprocket would be a bad idea imo and also the lockring may not fit on afterwards. A shorter BB isn't usually an option as the crank arm would then hit the chainstay.

  • My old bike looked like this after a meeting with a drunk driver:

Which was a bit impractical. So now I have just put toghether this:

The wheels are Phil + Mavic combo. Frame is the La Piovra that BLB gets made to order in Poland, with Columbus Spirit tubing. Almost all the other parts are BLB.

  • Which was a bit impractical.

  • Holy fuck - hope you're alright!

  • ^ I'm guessing he mounted it on the rear to improve chainline? Fairly standard but not so pretty way of bodging the chainline closer on conversions/frames not designed for track clearances.

  • Finito. Bring on Herne Hill
