Weight difference between Kevlar cords and steel cables is?

PBO – 1.56 g/cm3
Steel – 7.8 g/cm3
So depending on your length of run and if you do both brake and gears you could see about 40 to 60 grams saving overall.
And Ed .. I did my gears (they're not compatible with my brake setup) because they don't stretch due to being a lot stronger then steel cables 270GPa vs 200GPa tensile modulus I believe I have seen quoted, the weight saving is an added bonus .. as Smallfurry also commented in the past.
