  • Looking and feeling trim in 2012 even though I'm not totally strict about dieting, I think the main secret is low carbs; basically cut out bread, potatoes, pasta and rice from my diet. Not even a problem, veg stir-flys, grilled meat, greens, home made soups, I can devise a workable weekly regime of good food that doesn't fall back on your classic carbs.

    Just to be pedantic, veggies and greens are still sugar, they just tend to be simple carbs (mono- and disaccharides) rather than the complex carbs (oligosaccharides) found in starchy bread/potatoes/pasta. Your point still stands though, starchy carbs are best minimised if you're trying to shift weight.
