nope, is real. Just a sudden bloom following a rain storm

I spent November in Utah, I'd be utterly amazed if the ground had suddenly changed colour from red/orange to purple. I don't doubt the flowers are real, I just don't believe the colours looked that way straight out the camera.

THe label for the above photo describes a bloom of scorpion weed:

I'd say the magenta channel has been dropped back (mid-tones), and the photo was taken with a filter, but other than that I'd say spotter is right.
