Speed needs to be adjusted to grip. You don't just fling yourself around a corner at whatever speed you want and hope you stay upright. If you've not tested the grip of the tyres or failed to account for slippery road surface then it's not their fault. MTB semi slicks (with knobs on the sides) and tyres with ridges are somewhat unpredictable handlers and should be treated that way.
