Just use a 26.0. If that's what's been in there already and thats what you measure it as, worst case, if it slips, shim it. DC is knowledge is pretty encyclopedic but he could be wrong/this could be different etc. You're the one with the calipers, you decide.[/QUOTE]

see I was thinking that it was just the clamp area that had been squashed, and the main tube would still be 26.4 - looking at the various squashed bits of grease inside the tube it would appear that the previous post wasn't tightly fitted.

Is it not better to have more contact with the post? Or would trying to open out the clamp area be a really stupid idea...
