i was wondering whether the GXP bottom bracket that comes with SRAMS have sealed cartridge bearings? I'm assuming not..
You're assuming wrong.
It's theoretically possible to replace the bearing cartridges, but the costly tools and minimal price difference between bearing sets and complete BBs makes it pointless for the basic SRAM steel bearing sets. Off road users seem to find the stock bearings short lived, so you can upgrade to one of the aftermarket BBs later if you find your service kills the SRAM ones quickly, e.g. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NufgDt2zwXk
