Until recently the worldwide cyclocross market was pretty tiny in comparison to Road or MTB so the big manufacturers would only dip their toe in and build bikes like the Specialized Tricross or Lemond Poprad that were not race bikes.
Since Cyclocross became a cool thing to do in countries like USA and the UK these big folk have realised there is money to be earned and have started producing more race orientated models like the Crux et al.
