The bomber jacket is an excellent piece of kit, albeit a bit too warm for winter as I find I can only wear it on the bike when it's really cold, but I tend to wear it more off the bike.
As for sizing, I wear a large in the softshell and the fixed jacket and, as Eightball points out, the cut is quite slim. I don't think you'd ever layer up with it though, as anything more than a baselayer and you'd be sweating buckets.
