  • They look alright, but I know the swrve ones are superb..... I'll be putting mine on in 10 mins, for a jaunt to the local Portuguese cafe to sample some super bock :0)
I've been on duty for the last 96hours, it's the least I can do!

  • I still love my jeans...........just about the best jeans ive had.
    That is all......

I too am so in love with my jeans right now. Best thing I've bought in ages! Even wrote about them.

  • I bought a pair of the 34L regulars which looks just fine on me and have pretty much not taken them off since August when I got them. On the bike or off, these are fantastic. I'm normally very picky about jeans - takes me ages to buy a pair that suit anything other than skeletal legs.

I should have got a couple.

Dead good kit. Not showing the slightest bit of wear apart from some oil stains in the inside of the roll-up where I let them down a bit and they caught the drive-side. Comfy as hell to ride in - the stretchyness of the new fabric helps a load too.

  • Get the skinny fit next time, you won't regret it.

  • I met with Chris and tried the skinny's on in his office. Same size and next size up. Jeggings. Not a good look.

    /HoyThighs.

  • Right then. Tell me things about the wax jacket. Who has one? Is it far too warm as I suspect? I really want one but feel I may be a sweatbox after about 2 miles riding.

  • I love mine, but I don't ride in it. It's far too hot and you can't wash it, so I don't see how it can stand up to daily cycling use.

  • Two big reasons not to go for it right there. Back to the drawing board I guess.

  • Milwaukee perfect, too warm, but washable, right now it's perfect for the current weather.

  • any pro tips for getting rid of the inevitable eau de tramp that takes up residence in a milwaukee? do they stand up to a warm wash?

  • I was having this very conversation via email with Chris Morris of Swrve yesterday- he said the following:

Yes i use http://www.nikwax.com/en-gb/index.php to wash and then reproof .its the softshell stuff you need.

Having said that if i can get away with a cold wash and spin to get read of smell i do. Its the fabric softener that can really mess up water proof bit.

  • They're fine in a 40 degree wash. I throw mine in with my pants and dashiki no problem.

  • pretty sure my trusty MW is not waxed, so i'll just do a tibbs and chuck it in with my delicates.

Don't use fabric softener. Nikwax makes it nice and waterproof again, mine is as new after two winters. It's also a very durable jacket, I've fallen on my elbow twice and not a scratch although there were massive grazes on my elbow and lower arm.

  • hmmm... does anyone sell this magical unguent on the high street?

  • yup - just found their stockists page. tar

  • Right I'm off to Condor to try a Milwaukee on then. Thanks for the feedback there forumengers.

  • H&M jeans + scotchguard = £20 waterproof trousers.

Upkeep - £10 every few months for new "scotchguard" spray from the internet.

    • £20 every couple of months when the jeans wear away around the saddle area.
  • Update ^^^ Rode into town with a hoodie and pacaway Altura waterproof on. When I got to Condor I was pissing sweat. Gave it a minute to regain some dignity and tried a Rapha soft-shell (liked but not versatile enough for what I need). Then a Milwaukee and finally the Wax Jacket. In the end I took a deep breath and pulled the trigger on the Wax. I didn't feel any cooler temp wise in the Milwaukee and love the fact that the Wax doesn't look all 'high performance'. I also need something to wear off the bike too. I rarely change at work or when I get anywhere.

Rode around town, had a meeting (didn't take shiny new coat off), rode back to work in mile end at a reasonable lick. I have to say I'm impressed. Granted it's brass monkeys out there and I didn't have my hoody on underneath but it kept me dry and I arrived with less of a glow than if I'd worn the hoody and rainproof top. Super comfy too. Hell of a price so I'll have to sell some bits to justify it and if i was on the bike all day id go lighter, but I reckon it's a good investment.

  • Just ordered the Schoeller Winter softshell trousers. My jeans are 33W 34L, so I am hoping they won't feel too loose. Then again, they are for winter riding, so who gives a toss.

  • I've got an unworn pair of the 32x32 Blue regular "slim" fit jeans available for sellz if anyone would like them.

    http://www.lfgss.com/thread77723.html

Mrs took the tags off them (so I don't think I can return them) and they just don't fit me right, whereas the 32 skinny fits I have do. I haven't worn them on the bike I just tried them on and was disappointed that they were too big for me. :(

  • ^ same thing happened with me with Muxu jeans, their 34X32 skinny is way more baggy than my Lee Powell which is much better jeans to cycle in!

  • Hi, first post here.... Interesting comments on here, despite which and because of I'm trying to buy a pair of WWRs direct from the srwve.co.uk site and not getting any reply to emails - anyone know if he's away? I'm in Essex and don't get into town much so remote buying is easiest. Thought I'd try direct before other stockists.

  • Hi there stingraynick. Welcome to the forum. I've been in touch recently with Chris at Swrve but he's had a bad case of flu recently so hasn't been in his studio. He should be back working next week, so be patient and he should reply.
