Take the crank bolt out, ride around the block a few times 'til the crank comes loose... This is the smirk horatio method, tried and tested...
+1. Also known as the bogger method back home
Can anyone recommend a good mid-range bb? I'm looking at the un55 but would like something that wont die too fast from the filthy roads and extra spinning down the hills here.

The 'bolt in the shaft' method by Matt Power, on FlickrThis is after two sessions, it might just be bad luck but on first impressions I'm not entirely convinced.Been playing on it since it cracked and it's still totally robust.

^ It's the purple head, they crack quite easily, same with mine, happened to yorgo's too.

What ben said, works a treat with black pipe and the orange/yellow/blue heads.
-
• #81
Bummer... But good job I've got two blueies left.
-
• #82
Shite, sorry it broke.
I think the purple stuff was more brittle (it was meant to be the same material as "normal" pipe), if it only lasted two sessions then shout to John H, he'll be able to give you a replacement (non-purple) head I expect.

Ha, no worries Jono – I figured I'd done it up too tightly or just got a dud. It's really not a problem.

The pedals are superstuck, cant move them at all really, tried everything! But hey. True, I didn't think of how the pedals were threaded, total miss.
Fixie tricking. Lol, ridiculous. Also, the bike weighs shitloads. -

Ha, have you been merged?
Soak threads with plus gas for some days. Get a proper pedal spanner and maybe some pipe for extra leverage. Was about to attach my Hell's Belles mallet head. I might just keep it as a souvenir then. :)

What's plus gas? I've been told white spirit also works?

What are people's thoughts on polo bike sizing? I'm switching my frame out for one that's exactly one size larger, mostly out of curiosity.
-
• #88
my new frame is a 52, but with a higher BB. it is probably too big for me but cannot physically be smaller because of the curved tube. although i have been playing on a 700c 60cm unipack and i have learned to (almost) quite like it. if you change something dont automatically give up if it doesnt feel right. stick with it for at least 6 sessions (two weeks)
-
• #89
you play 3 times a week? Jesus no wonder your so good!
-
• #90
stick with it for at least 6 sessions
a month?
-
• #91
I buy a frame for the top tube length then think about the seat tube.

While it's there, we might as well use it.

Anyone know anything about these? I think they're called dragonfly double top cables or something. The main body doesn't look as solid as the odyssey london mod but I like the cable attachment system. What are people currently using as a metal bar to hold the cable?
-
• #94
i have some 5 or 6mm alu rod you can use Cam
-
• #95
A cut down M5 bolt with hacksaw slots + drilled holes, held on with a pair of nuts either side.
-
• #96
Wait a minute, what the heck is this? Has this been considered already?
-
• #97
Nice one max but I need it before the weekend.
-
• #98
then go to ikea spares dept. they have alu rod there
-
• #99
Cool. What you think of this? Maybe cleaner than a london mod set-up. I guess the only problem is getting the cable long enough to reach both brakes, ie not just the top half of a giro set-up.
-
• #100
That mod will be short pull? I have a long pull dual lever you can borrow if you want Cam?
Ah, I think you haz the confusion John.
