hello, my name is Connor and im 15. i am looking to start making and riding a fixie. i am buying a fort 125 db frame from a friend but im looking for wheels. i have seen some on ebay for £55 for both wheels. if you have any BUDGET suggestions, please let me know.

Ho, we're not a club ;)
Hey Connor...welcome! Keep your eyes open on Classifieds. Second hand wheelsets often come up for sale and occasionally within the £50 price range. I sold a pair of road wheels for £35 recently. If I see anything, I'll send you a message.
For that money it is almost always better to buy second hand although it might be worth asking people about the wheels that Decathlon sell for £20 and £25 respectively. They're round and they spin (who knows how long for) but you could do worse!

Hey all, just joined the site. Bought a fixie a while back and decided to switch it out to single speed. Have a H+ son black rear wheelset to sell, and looks like this is better place to look for a home than eBay. Trying to make up my 3 post intro reqs without spamming so...hello!

Hey Geoff...out of interest, what changed your mind? I only ask because I swapped bikes with my brother for a few miles yesterday and rode SS freewheel for a few miles and couldn't for the life of me remember what I liked about it.
I ride geared bikes regularly...I just don't seem to enjoy SS any more and I don't really know why!

Hey Stonehenge, the honest answer is because I find SS an easier ride. I mainly ride to get back and forth to work, and I find being able to let the bike do some of the work now and then is a nicer way to ride and less stress when I'm already dealing with London traffic. I miss being able to brake with the pedals and I did enjoy some aspects of riding fixed, but at the end of the day I'm enjoying SS more.

Hello - I just joined as I seem to spend all my time either cycling or thinking about cycling, and thought what better place than the internet to further indulge these hobbies of mine.
Disclaimer: I have never ridden fixed. I do not have the level of coordination to ride a fixed bike (I can't even manage to use the clips on my road bike properly as it's usually a guaranteed way of me falling off), and I don't know anyone crazy enough to let me try using theirs, as my lack of coordination is fairly well-known... Hope this is okay and I won't be bullied for my use of gears...
Anyway, hello everyone, hope to have some interesting bike chat, and no doubt at some point pick your brains about the neverending stream of injuries I pick up (see lack of coordination above).

Can't say fairer than that! Each to their own. At least you gave it a try.

Welcome! Don't be silly. A few of us don't ride fixed on here. I signed up six months before trying fixed. I thought I wouldn't be able to handle it but it turned out to be easy and fun when I tried. Haven't looked back since.
Come along to one of our weekly pub drinks, meet a few people and I'm sure we'll have you giving it a go in no time.

I would like to try it though it'd have to be somewhere hidden from view as I guarantee I'd be on the ground in a matter of seconds! It does sound awesome fun. My brother has one but is unlikely to let me touch it after I rode his motorbike into the side of the house... Told you I was lacking coordination!!
I will definitely come along to some pub drinks in the new year :)

After a few visits to forum drinks you'll realise there is no shame in falling off...

^^ Wot he sed. My falls have been mostly in public, on main roads, underground car park and outside my block albeit onto grass which was fine :-).
-
• #4691
Haha, I only ever fall off in public. Not usually onto grass, sadly!! I'll see you at drinks sometime then - you'll easily spot me, I'll be the one with scraped knees and a sheepish look on my face.

morning all. i'm tom, live in holloway, producer at bbc 6music. over the last 2 years i've become a massive bike nerd. this is my first post, now i'm off to the mechanics section to ask stupid questions about what to do with that nice old frame that needs threading.
i've seen a few of you down the flask when i've been there on my boring specialized road bike (i sometimes ride with the guys from the hadron shop). i'll try and start coming along on the fixie instead.@tom_whalley on twitter for those that want to hear things about vinyl, stuff i'm doing on the radio, nottingham forest, and my bike.
