  • thanks to everyone who came on a 2011 afterworker. sorry they have been a bit thin on the ground since October.

I am moving house (again) in a few weeks so will have to wait till that's sorted in case I have to run off for viewings but they will be back with a vengeance after that.

  • Hey TB. Hopefully that will be enough time for your body to heal completely. Ride safe.

  • Aftetworkers were one of the highlights of 2011 for me, thanks for putting them on!

  • I want to up my pedal game in 2012 so will be making a concerted effort to make some of these when back...or at least the flatter ones!

  • +1 Rosie. Thanks so much for the rides. Each one I went on was brilliant. Even when being pelted with bottles in Morden.

I can't wait to get back to twice weekly evening rides...

  • aw you guys. I am glad you enjoyed them.

I was hoping to sneak one in tomorrow but I think I've got a viewing now. Have to move by the 19th though so after that I can have my life back.

  • I don't mind leading one ride a week until you are free again Rosie...it would really be no bother.

  • go for it if you want to. you have to ride at afterworker speed though :I

  • Its a deal.

  • i got recommended these rides by someone on a ride some point last year, not sure which one or whome, but been looking for this thread for a while, would love to join on an evening if work allows me to finish at a decent time, this is a grand idea

  • Monday after work next week ok for people? I'll be riding whatever the weather.

I was thinking a Kentish 50 with a handful of small hills at a nice gentle pace.

  • Are you good for a route? This one's got some awesome a roads at the end:

  • Looks like a ripper to me! Prettly flat overall.

Was going to plan something myself but I quite like the idea that you set the routes and I lead them...these are your rides after all!

  • That's not flat. Just saying.

  • Three or four short 10%+ climbs over 65mi by my reckoning...not that bad!

  • 4476ft is more climbing than the same distance to brighton. jus' sayin'

  • And going the wrong way Titsey (860ft) has a 7ish mile long climb. But no, no long climbs!

  • Total elevation gain means sod all if its a load of smaller climbs (or one gentle 7mi climb with a few short sharp climbs). Its no Cudham-Toys-Ide...and that has less climbing in total.

  • Going down Titsey is ace though.

    I miss riding my bike.

  • I'm ashamed to admit that I'm not sure that I've been down Titsey. Good name though.

  • Going down Titsey is, indeed, ace.

Total elevation gain means sod all if its a load of smaller climbs (or one gentle 7mi climb with a few short sharp climbs). Its no Cudham-Toys-Ide...and that has less climbing in total.

Practically easier yes, but still 4,500ft of climbing. And is therefore not flat. 4,500ft of climbing is 4,500ft of climbing; easier if you do it gradually but you've still done it!

I like the look of that route anyway, especially how the A roads are mostly later in the evening.

  • MIght reccie on Saturday if I'm not in East Anglia...looks like a beaut as you say.

Winds should have dropped by next week too. I've had a torrid day on the bike today.

  • Ha! Despite my claims of wanting to up my pedal game in 2012 I can't make Monday as I'm watching filums about bicycles rather than pedalling myself.

Also, I'm afeared of all this hill talk #fairweather

  • Poots, this ride will be slow and steady. It is rolling rather than hilly. I was trying to inspire some confidence for people considering joining us but who are worried about hills or pace earlier in the thread but it all descended into talk of it being hilly and people correcting me.

Rosie always intended these to be inclusive rides and thats the way I'm keeping it. If we have to ride it at 14mph then thats what we'll be doing.

Happy to change days if you really wanted to join us. No problem at all.

EDIT: Happy to change routes to something a little flatter too.

  • It'd be really good to actually have some ladies on these ladies rides for a change...
