They are pretty good at rectifying any kind of problem. If it was sent by a tracked service, they should either be able to find it or the carrier will have to admit they've lost it; either way, your problem should be solved pretty quickly. If it's not tracked (i.e. normal post), I think you have to wait a couple of weeks before the package is presumed dead.
