Sadly, yes. No other set up has come close to it.
And it could mean the dream of 3 bikes is acheived.
I might make it SS... not sure yet- though the MTB is going to be SS as well...

Muguards on a 29er could be good. Does anyone make them wide enough for 2.2" tyres, and is it a crazy idea?

In theory sks p65s are wide enough to accomodate 2.2" tyres.
It's like a kitset bike made of left overs. Fun aplenty though
