Maybe the expression "have a stab" isn't the best if we're heading east.
-
• #178
"Attempt" would have been better.

i've been to all the beers and know the way between them, but they won't all be the easiest places to get in on NYE. C+H and Britannia probably the most likely

Maybe meet at the Blackfriar and head south etc etc.
-

The Roe should be easy too.
I'm hard at work training for this ride...I'vee been hammering out fixed miles on the coast whilst absoutely hammered for two days now. I have been simulating the effects of pedestrians jumping out in front of me by taking random detours through sheep fields.
-
• #182
Is that wise?
-
• #183
sheep have a bit too much sense to serve as an accurate proxy
-
• #184
Totally agree. The average pissed-up hick is far less predictable.
-
• #185
I'll find a sheep field and feed them beer tonight...maybe I'll get a proper training session in tomorrow ;)
To be serious for a moment, after the last few days of grinding into headwinds I can't wait wait for a pootle around town and a few beers with my pals.

If like me you utterly detest New Years' Eve, then can I suggest that we convene somewhere suitable and ride (preferably avoiding the usual hell holes) and have a jar in the five boozers that we frequent on a weekly basis.
The missus will be away and the prospect of either spending the evening in watching Jools Holland and his Hootenanny (with Hucknall perving in the background like he does every year), or going to a house party or hosting a dinner party etc really isn't my idea of enjoyment. Therefore an evening spent attempting to ride the GSIAD route is a much more appealing.
Thing is though, won't most if not all the 5 pubs be:
A) Rammo
B) Ticket only
C) Pay to get in
D) Wank dress code
E) All of the above -
• #187
We'll sort something out. If a pub is being shite when we arrive there will be plenty of other places to choose from. Hell, lets dress up really warm and tramp beer it if need be!

I'm going to bring an A Certain Ratio rarity on 7", some nice homemade *crocante di nocciolo *and a flask of turkish coffee.
And drugs. Did I mention the drugs?

Paul, don't worry about navigation - there will plenty of people who know the way between pubs... As for getting in to each of them, I imagine some will be fine and some won't. I'm happy just getting hammered sat on the curb.
Any thoughts for where to spend Midnight? I'd say we'll be around Norths when the bell tolls. What about some champers up on Primrose Hill?

Or Kite Hill (Parliament Hill). Lovely views, and easier to get to from the Flask.

S'all good, I'll just look at your pretty face when 'big ben' is donging and....

Much easier to carry a handful of jizz around in your hand all night and fake it at the important moment surely?
(makes mental note not to shake hands with Sam).

Hey guys,
I'm a Canadian dude and I'm gonna be in southampton from the 29th to the 7th. I'm bringing my bike with me as I'm living in china now and those countryside roads around town are too nice to pass up. I'm coming to England to visit an elderly relative who's holed up in a nursing home but I was hoping to find something fun to do on nye. This booze cruise you guys have planned sounds right up my alley. If you guys dont mind a foreign, complete stranger joining in that is. ;)

It would be a pleasure to have you along. Join us!
I can bore you with the details of my charity ride across the Canadian Rockies if you do ;)

Cheers,
I should warn, this will be my first night in London..ever. I may need some assistance with the logistics.
Can you take bikes on the train? Is it possible to hop a train w/bike from Southampton to a convenient station in London where one of you can meet me? I'm also not too sure how I'll get back there when the party's over haha..
Love to hear about your Rocky Mtn. ride, I can in turn bore you with tales of bike touring in China and getting drunk with government officials in karaoke strip clubs. ;)

Oh yeah....Merry Christmas everyone!
That said, I'll get out and about next week and have a stab at working something out.
