The sad fact is that some years ago the main reason to go to an art or film school was to get to know people, so you can call your mate ten years later and get a temporary job without any responsibilities like an art director or a producer.
I blame the raise of the HR departments for the current state of affairs.
Why go to school with other more talented people or why have family members working in your industry if you can't use it?! Fuck it! At least lawyers and doctors still have it right. Nepotism for the win.
