  • Yeah, I've done that too actually... Sorry, blonde moment... :]

  • I've never heated it, I don't think there is any need.

I just cut notches into the top of the pole with a hacksaw, but others have filed spikes into it. I think both work.

  • Spikes work better, Bill only put a coupla notches in his and it wasn't grabbing into the pipe enough... We had to perform courtside mallet surgery... True story...

My heads have never turned or failed...

I cut 8 notches about 3mm long into mine.

I only have 4 small notches in mine and it's never moved but I don't play polo, merely carry the mallet for show.

  • I use a small self tapping screw at 90 deg to the shaft near the first hole in the plastic tube. It's not very neat but it's quick and easy and has held so far (a year)

  • Been building stacks of these - shit photo. PE500. The others I made are still working great 6 months later so I thought it was mebbe time to make a batch. To be press fitted into the thin black (63 x 3.5mm) and pinned with spokes.

  • How heavy and how much are you thinking they will cost?

  • £4 if picked up at the cambridge tourney. Still need to weigh them (my postage scales are outta battery)

  • Has anyone used the single capped St Cago mallet heads? Any good?
I know someone going to the other side of the Atlantic who can bring some gear back.

  • I've never used one, but they look and from the written description seem very similar to Harvey's capped heads.

They are very solidly build, but also very heavy.

  • Thats what I prefer, I think.

  • i've still got one you can take a look at. Won't be around until the new year though

  • Thanks DT. Put it in the bag, along with that disc brake guard.

  • disc brake guard.

Hang on, what's all this then?

  • Its an in-joke.

  • Nice one, Kev...

St Cago make two type of head, the 'pick up' and the 'tournament'.

The pick up head is thick hdpe and the tournament is thin hdpe.

The 'pick-up' is ridiculously heavy. Forget it. It's not worth it. The majority of your time is spent playing throw-ins so why not have a mallet you can enjoy.

The 'tournament' head is brilliant. I got three sent over when he released them and I loved them. The only reason I am not using them anymore is because of the cost of having them imported and because Harvey makes the same product; in Cambridge, cheaper.

If you're looking for a one-piece capped head I would just ask Harvey. But if you want St Cago I would buy the 'tournament' head.

  • Its an in-joke.

Is it anything to do with DT making brake guards for us all?
That would be awesome, I'm in. Mine's failed.

  • anyone in london tried a MILK head yet?

  • I'm interested, they look very similar to the MKE ones (slightly different method for fastening though).

I'd rather get a bulk load of MKE as I like a single cap and can then cut the MKE ones down to size...

If they did a MILK head for the same price as a MKE at ~115mm, I'd be sold.

  • how much are they?

  • i think i saw something like 25 euros? quite a bit... could be wrong though.

  • f that
