  • that's why it's in porn thread
btw i've never seen that color scheme before, is that a repaint?

  • really warming up to the look of brooks tape/plugs.

  • lushness. best bike in the last few months for me i reckon.

  • The bike has been on Prolly's blog together with the road Merckx from the same owner. Different wheels and saddles though.

  • Really? With those pedals and clinchers?

The only bit thAt worries me is actually the 1" forks/quill stem.
As much as i love a good classic, it makes little sense to me to have a
custom track frame (newly made), with a quill instead of ahead.
    Nice anyway.

  • It's so that you can have a retro feel as well as the look.

  • It's so that you can have a retro flex as well as the look.

    As is the stem.

  • ^ Is that a porn dungeon? (Bikes look scared)

inasmuch as accurate as that, the right choice of stem can reduced the flex, some (nitto especially) are prone to flexing noticably.

steel stem flex a lots less.

  • My 2A is flexier than a teenage gymnast. Would a steel quill really be as stiff as the fairly bog standard ahead I have on my road bike? I thought alu was stiffer than steel anyway?

  • Alu tends to flex less but is more brittle.

  • the Nitto track bar is goddamned stiff compared to their alu one...

  • ... and steel frames flex a lot more than alu frames. I dont think we can compare alu to steel the same way on every component

well anyway, I think we can somewhat safely say modern bikes should have modern stems if they are built for performance

  • To reduce flex on a quill you should opt for steel over alu.
This will indeed reduce flex but increase substantially the weight.
My point is that it is a custom made frame to use on the track... that's surely
way over 1k of bike there. i know I wouldn't.

  • Ed Scoble, track legend!

    :D

Prefer the wheels of the first pic on the track bike, but apart from that, pure trouser explosion material.

  • if you are a pro, then you can start worrying about flex.

As for the stem with the most flex, i think this eastgerman stem takes the no.1 spot

  • Ha! I remember watching that on your photostream. Crazyflex.
Numerius, we're all pros here. Some are actual legends.
    I for one, am a Semi-Pro.

  • a more porn-worthy-repost legenda without quill-shit

  • Looks better than quill.

  • Shame about the hubs though.

  • Not much point using anything else on the road though.

True, but steel rims on a Ferrari doesn't work either.
