Pinarello looks lovely, I really love to see old frames build up withm modern parts.

Will save up pennies for a stand and some parts and give it a go in Jan I reckon. Looking forward to giving this a go now! Especially as I wanna try and build a fixed, non disc, 700cc rear wheel for my Inbred mtb for the road, just to see if it'll work and how I get on with it.

straps are in the post, and the gear is huge (53t) so when i have some spare cash i'll get a 46 or 48 i think, only other size i have is 38. pedals are the only ones i have spare currently apart from some old look spd's but i have no cleats or shoes for them

Clipless would be the best choice, not least because it would drastically reduce the likelihood of pedal strike that comes with running a road frame (with a low bottom bracket) as a fixed gear.

What size is your rear sprocket? 38 on the front and 16 on the rear is quite a nice gear, you can get a 16t sprocket for aorund a fiver.

If you're feeling your way with the gearing it would be a good idea to get a sensible chainring, like 46 or 48t. Then a 18t cog and go from there.

or you could htfu and go for 52/17 straight away and learn from there

i've been looking at track frames on the internet dolan etc. and was considering selling my road frame to get one. any opinions? I do like my current frame but always looking to upgrade, or should i just spend some money on making it work perfectly and see if that helps me love it more?

you are entering the massive debate about what feels better on road, steel or alu with carbon forks..

personal preference innit. you should borrow an alu frame and see if you like it on the street

18 on the rear, have got a 16t free wheel for the other side of the hub, think i may try the 38 and see the difference, its quite hard to get going, but once your moving its great, and can keep a nice speed up
