the use of pepper spray aside, we were led to believe that the students were just passively sitting there when in fact they had encircled the police. Spin, propaganda, the twisting of the truth is odious whether it comes from the state or from protesters.
To be honest i doubt many people even know what the original protest was about, the pepper spray incident and following hysteria created and perpetuated a simplistic, useless 'us and them' mentality that detracts from any real issues. To be honest some of the memes, making the cop into a mass murderer or whatever, were sickening and childish now we know the real situation.
I'm not on either side, by the way, and wont be dragged into an argument on this ;)
