Anyone know the phrases "Tongue-in-cheek" or "Pinch of salt"?
Just pointing out that there was/is another side to a story that has ONLY been told from a very edited, biased point of view.
Several times they were told that they were breaking numerous laws by illegally camping and protesting on that land - several students are arrested for obstructing the police while they removed the tents. Then the idiotic chanting starts to release the legally arrested people, and then the students are stupid enough to encircle ARMED police.
The protest wasn't ever going to achieve a thing, threatening the police wasn't going to do anything positive. There was NO chance they would release the protesters once arrested but the students belligerently stood their ground to change what?.. the policemens minds?
They lawfully arrested people obstructing them [peacefully] doing what was set out by federal laws, and after further obstructions and 1/2 a dozen warnings, they had very little other choice of what to do.
Nobody in the group of protesters was willing to listen to any sort of reasoning, the police were very calm throughout, they gave all sorts of warnings, yet the students carried on, keeping the police trapped.
I will say though - pepper spray was a bit over the top. They should have used a big fuck-off water cannon.
They are po po. this makes your point invalid
