Yes, these Raleighs are the East of Scotland cycling association track bikes:
I am the ESCA track secretary and am looking at the viability of modernising the bikes we to give youngsters that are coming to the track, these kids don't seem to appreciate the history in the bikes. They want one that looks like the ones the BC riders use. When Chris was using one of these bikes, we told him if it was good enough for Gordon Singleton to win the world championships , it was good enough for him !
Here is a bit of the history :
*"In August 1980 Brian Annable negotiated an agreement with Gerald O Donovan of Raleigh Cycles to supply 11 track bikes to the Council for a special price of £3300. The Council also agreed to fund the provision of track lighting by ESCA, and to donate £700 for ESCA to recondition the Carltons that were supplied when the track opened in 1970.
BA reached an agreement between ESCA and CEC that ESCA would become responsible for ownership, deployment, maintenance, and safety in use of the track machines, and CEC would fund the purchase of components needing replacement." *regards Allister

I would rather not go on the "bay" as the overheads and general nonsense that some times happens with sales can be very time consuming and irritating so near Christmas.
In that case I would seriously recommend you don't sell them here.

I'd love one of these but there's no way I could afford it, even with the hassle you'd get the most on ebay.jp.
I'll be back up in Edinburgh for Christmas, are there any open-day type things when I could ride the Meadowbank track?

Raleigh track frames in the past year on eBay have sold for between £300-£550
The highest priced ones had 753 tubing.
You'd expect them to go for more because of their winning history but that doesn't seem to happen.
I'd imagine you could sell them here for £300 pretty quickly if they all look like the one pictured.
Or less if the budget allows.

Just phoned them, the track is closed for winter and there aren't any taster sessions anyway, clubs only.

Dwayne!! haven't seen you in ages gaffer!!
to the OP, dmczone is fairly much the oracle when it comes to what's happening and what prices things are fetching when it comes to older track stuff

The track is unusable during the winter, It gets a safety checked and "DE-MOSSED" in late march and is available then right through till the weather closes in around the end of September. I will be running accreditation and club sessions most weeks through the season so if you are coming up to Edinburgh pm me and we can fit you in to a session.

I suspect you'll have people biting your hands off at the right price! I want a 53/54, but I couldn't afford/justify :/
As the title says this is a shameless fishing expedition being posted here rather than in the for sale section where I would probably get a roasting at the very least !
Let me explain,
I may possibly have a number of 1980 vintage TI Raleigh track frames for sale in sizes from 50cm to 60cm.
They came directly from Gerald O Donovan and have been used and perhaps a little neglected over the past 31 years with fading paint and the odd scrape here and there.
I would like to replace them with modern alloy track frames, probably Dolan Precursa's or Track Champions frames / bikes.
I have a limited budget to get the new bikes up and running and have been asked to look at the potential to sell these frames to finance the purchase of the new ones.
The question is how much could I reasonable ask or expect for these frames ?
I would rather not go on the "bay" as the overheads and general nonsense that some times happens with sales can be very time consuming and irritating so near Christmas.
The frames look like this :
21' Raleigh 531C Track frame and forks , Cinelli cast bottom bracket shell and Prugnat long point lugs, Double plate fork crown and Campagnolo record headset. Still has the G.O.D. decal on the seat tube !
Rides as well as any of the modern bikes on a steep board track.
Opinions and constructive criticism are most welcome as forum postings or PM's
Thanks Allister
