• The concept of a 'roadway' doesn't exist in British English; it's called the 'carriageway' over here. Also, cycle lanes (not paths) are generally found in the carriageway.

    In this case, it would also seem as if the cycle lane in the background is the one in the opposite direction to the way in which the riders are going. :)
