ha.
todd how are you getting on with your hub? Anyone else got good recommendations for a 135mm quick engage hub. DT? Gabes?

My hope trials hasn't let me down.
I ride a shimano freewheel to work everyday which really makes me appreciate the extra engagement on the hope. Pricey though, but machined and assembled in UK.

I have Profile B. Nice but I don't think as good as Hope.
You could prob buy a wheel with hope hub and decent rim straight off eBay... -

Hey B, have a look on the superstar website. The hope trial hubs are great but superstar do one for about half the price, looks pretty good. Otherwise NS do one as well that josh uses.

Until you take it off and it leaves the rubber spacers on the bars, then said spacers fall off and disappear. I don't see why they can't make a quick release clamp like everyone else.

The superstar ones are the same as all the halo/formula/all the others badged ones.
Great hubs and great value but certainly not in the same league as the hopes. The freehubs tend to go, the pawls don't engage with the same accuracy and end up mashed up - or atleast this has been my experience. -

Guess what? I don't use the spacers...

here three! two years, and still going strong. gone through 3 bearings (easily replaced) and i've replaced the allen bolts for 17mm bolts, couldn't get good enough torque through the allen key to hold the hub in horizontal dropouts. ignore that ^ if you have vertical dropouts or axle tugs.

It was nice to see Max's bike briefly before the thread descended back into upgrades, sales, maintenance and generic questions again.
(The average of 10+ bikes per page was a joy.)

Agreed - I thought having two separate threads, one for photos of complete bikes, one for questions on upgrades, was better.

Didn't we used to have 2 separate threads, could we have it again?
Dual lever front disc? Nice!
