If you have more money than I do and can afford a wireless power meter then it transmits its information to your Garmin via ANT+.
The one I have is wired, and runs to an SRM headunit- where it displays your current/average wattage, as well as the normal stuff.
You can then download loads of metrics (heart rate, speed, cadence, power, distance) when you get home and nerd out over the graphs.
