  • Looking at the saddle height, would raising the stem to reduce the steerer be an option if you didn't want/need to cut it?
Looks great and +1 for more black bits.

  • seatpost is strangely odd on that bike.

    Not oddly strange then?

it's original so who is Ed to say its wrong?

    ↑This

  • yeah, but i think it's 25mm so i cant put the dura ace seatpost on. also its probs original so who am i to say its wrong?

they made a 25mm dura ace seatpost didn't they?

  • Yeah but the Look ergo posts are great, and the nice looking DA seatposts are prone to failure in the clamp (yeah this again).

I think you've done a cracking job on the Look, it is a hard frame to do justice to, you're getting there.

It would be an option. But i feel the bars need to be a touch lower if anything.
Im not fussed about chopping it, because i know i will take the forks off, get distracted by something more fun than using a hacksaw and a week later the bike might get put back together. Having a spare bike gives me no motivation to get things done quickly.

  • uhmm mostly i just post them on my facebook toby :) roelez.me(at)gmail.com

    holy fuck!

  • Anyone know where I can get the missing bulb holder for this dynamo rear light?

It's on my shopper resto, most of the bike is cleaned up now, just need to sort the front brake, and if possible, this.

Think I need something like this, not that big, but that kind of fitting.

Take it out and check the code.

ah, i've got a 27.2 though, and i like the ergostem fine

  • Guy, would swapping the stem from positive degree to negative degree with some spacers underneath get you a filled up steerer tube sans cutting and will end you up with a lower bar position? I know there's a discussion about that being less stiff, but I'm frankly ignoring that..

  • Hmm, looking back at the pictures, it's at negative degree.. But you can get a stems with a higher degree of "drop".. Get a black one while you're at it.. ;)

  • Rodolfo is quite right, flip stem upside down to have it horizontal to fill up the extended steerer.

Trust me, I'm one to talk about spacers and steerer, it's all about the uncut I tell you.

  • Its a zero rise stem, im after something like 10degree drop.

  • Didn't notice that, my apologise, as you were chap.

  • , it's all about the uncut I tell you.

    racist

  • Just pick up this groupset this morning for my CT1 ..

  • whammy

  • my special products 853 Raleigh cross bike with dura-ace 7800 and cheap wheels not quite finished yet seat post needs replacing and quill stem instead of converter.

  • looks like so much fun

  • I really want a cross bike...

  • Okay so this is my current fixie-which i was riding in London for about a year
I'm now studying at Leeds Uni and there are far to many hills to keep the bike this way

I want to put gears on the bike but keep it looking aesthetically clean
so i was thinking about just putting rear gears on and keep a single chainring at the front
I have only ever built fixie's and singlespeeds so not sure where to start

Just looking for some advice on what i need to buy and a rough cost of the transformation

    Thanks

What about a 3 speed Sturmey Archer hub? (and some brakes)

Would keep it looking something like a fixie, you can even buy them fixed.

I've never seen one of these frames before. Are they very rare?

Dura Ace on a cross bike, ker-ching!

Looks like a lot of fun, do you plan to race on it?

  • 'hack' road bike has new wheels and stem. and once the shitty weather's passed I'll be sticking Force on it. And then it'll feel lovely and new again, yay.

  • 6pt exists in a black and white world, its like something out of an mtv video
