Rosie, I know I sound like your dad, but that your knees seem to be fine now doesn't necessarily mean that they are fine. I used to get that, too--having seemingly recovered, I then rode hard again, without having the knee examined, and without making much of a change to my set-up. Over time, this pain-fine again-pain rhythm led to long-term knee problems that had me off the bike for a good while, and I can still feel it now. I very much hope that you are fully recovered, but I worry that this sounds like the pattern I used to experience. I don't have medical knowledge, but I'm sure a visit to a sports physio can't hurt. Take care of yourself there.
