I stripped my Pomp with a wire brush about four months ago and coated it in a mega can of Halfords clear. In most areas the metal is still shiny, but around the top tube where cables and my knees rub etc, it's starting to get dots of orange surface rust (and we play indoors).
I've had two bikes powder coated at Armourtex, both I've been incredibly pleased with the initial finish but my Steamroller was chipped and scratched all over within 9 months of having it done, just from locking it to railings etc. I should imagine a polo bike would take much more of a beating.
In short, neither are perfect, and neither have been better (with regards to protection and durability) than the finish that came from the factory.
