  • This one;

    http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=19010

Stem. Not headset....I haz that one!

Shim looks the way to go then.

  • I've got a shim.

  • By the way Damo, Condor have such stem last I checked.

  • It's not just old, it's also rare. Bikes all but died out within a couple of years of cars becoming ubiquitous. Since it was always possible to fit a bike inside a car, there wasn't any incentive to keep manufacturing bikes after you'd tooled up for car production.

bikes, like vinyl LP's, CD's and porn you had to buy, now finds itself at the BSO and retro-poseur ends of the market, but not anywhere in between.

    All hail the doom-sayer.

  • I'm planning on resigning today.
Any tips on the best way to do it? It's really going to piss my boss off/inconvenience him and I don't want to make it worse than it's going to be.

  • Tell him you are just popping out to the postbox at ~3.30.

    Never come back.

  • See I'm going to have to do an experiment with him in an enclosed space at 2pm. I really don't want to tell him then because it will be instantly awkward and there will be no escape...... but if I don't do it then, I don't think I'll get him alone again this afternoon. I'd like to do it on a Friday so he can calm down over the weekend. Man, it feels like we're breaking up.

  • Fucking man up. Tell him after the experiment.

Granted, the last PI I had asked me if I actually liked my job. When I said "no, I hate this place and the job", they said "you don't have to stay. I can't imagine coming to work in a job that I hated".

    Cue tears. From me.

  • The experiment won't work. Trust me.

3 days time, the results will come in. "I can't make sense of it"
    "I'm leaving"

  • Japanese green tea - good place to get it in tea bag form?

  • Japan.

  • Or locally, the Japan centre in Piccadilly.

  • if you want it to be good quality, don't buy it in tea bag form, buy it loose. on this site you can buy really excellent loose tea for a good price, and also personal tea bags to put it in if you desperately need it to be in bags.

  • Chemical or biological experiment?

If it's chemical - make a big poof of smoke, and the run out of the door.

If it's biological - Create a sentient pathogen that pretends to be you.

Thank you Dan. This made me laugh.
Job is done. As is career as a scientist! Yippeeeeee.

  • Next stop, Britains got Talent?

  • Do we think Waxy O'connors in Leicester SQ will let me in with a brompton this evening?

  • Friday night? I doubt it.

  • additional: I think we're in a private section (dargle bar?) for someones birthday if that makes a difference.

  • Adopt the approach a friend of mine uses, which is to just walk in carrying a folded brompton as if it's the most normal thing in the world whilst looking fairly fierce. If anyone objects, ask to check it in to the cloakroom. Most restaurant staff don't want the aggro of an aggrieved customer. (I think it helps that my friend is 6'3 and has a shaved head).

  • right then, im gonna need a bit of advice but il spin you a bit of yarn first: i bought my njs bridgestone track frame complete about three months ago and it was obvious that the previous had slightly neglected the bike, not terribly, but in a way that meant he hadnt touched anything in a long time. I recently got a flat, when i went to change it i couldnt get the wheel out (this is the rear.) at first i thought that the axle or the track nuts had corroded to the dropouts but then i unscrewed the nuts and gave the wheel a bit of force and the wheel would move backwards in the dropouts. i finally got the wheel out with a lot of force and it turned out that a 120mm spaced wheel had been jammed in the dropouts that were 110mm. what should i do? could i re-space the hub (high flange dura-ace 7600) to 110mm? is this even possible? what cold-setting the frame be an option? would it be expensive? or should i just sell the wheels i have and buy some 110mm wheels (i'd ideally be looking for the 7600 hubs)? are 110mm hubs or wheelsets quite rare?
    cheers in advance
    joe

what's interesting about this is that i bought this bike from andy 'fixed gear' ellis london and i didn't change a thing on it, cos i'm clueless, which just goes to show what a rip-off cunt the guy is.

  • Bad traders >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

  • Does anyone know what kind of BB thread Sun Worksop Snipe frames have? I assume it's british thread?

I need to replace the cotter pin based chainset which means replacing the bottom bracket. But i want to know what i need to replace it with so i can do a quick replacement. It's my only bike and can't bear to be rideless whilst i have the BB removed and then faff about trying to find what would fit.

    Cheers for any help.

  • Japan.

    Would be radioactive.
