Just spoke to my friend, comet say that they wouldn't have resold an opened unit and if he's taken it to them for repair they'd just send it to microsoft again. He spoke to a supervisor at microsoft and he said they can do nothing as it looks like he opened it and he can't prove otherwise. He's spoken to trading standards standards again and they said he needs independent evidence. which seem pretty stupid to me because if someone other than microsoft opens it the warranty is voided, besides microsoft has already opened it and thus broken the seals. I said he should write a formal letter to microsoft and then if he gets no where with that contact a consumer rights group.
