Red chainset matched with 105 shifters would work just fine but makes no sense to me and makes me feel a bit ill (joking really). You shouldn't mix your drinks!
105 is good and significantly less cash. The shifting when giving it beans might not be as sweet as Ultegra but still super slick. 105 will be heavier than Red, that's the only downside.
